When Tiger Woods opened up on prioritizing his ð˜Īð˜Đ𝘊𝘭ð˜Ĩren over golf – “Really took a toll on me”

Tiger Woods is one of the most well-known golfers and has dominated the sport for over a decade. He has the most PGA Tour wins, with 82 trophies and 15 Major championships. Woods won most of his events between 2000 and 2010 and was an indomitable force in golf.

But this dominance came at a cost as, after a while, Woods battled plenty of injuries and surgeries. The injuries made it challenging for him to compete full schedule on the PGA Tour or be with kids.

In 2017, Tiger Woods gave an interview to Scott Van Pelt, opening up on his disappointment.

“I think that over the last couple years not being able to play a full schedule and not be able to play and practice at a high level like I used to and then not be able to participate with my kids’ lives and that has been probably the most difficult,” Woods said. (From 7:51)

He then said his kids are active, and they like to play various sports, and want their father to join in as well.

“My kids are very active, they want to play soccer, they want to play different different sports. Want Daddy to play. And when I was struggling there laying on the ground or laying in bed, I’m not able to do those things that really took a toll on me mentally,” he revealed.

Woods said he looked at it differently going forward, and his number one priority is to make sure he can do the things with his kids and then compete at the highest level in professional golf.

A look back at Tiger Woods’ performances in 2024

Tiger Woods is not competing in the full schedule of the PGA Tour due to injuries and is still recovering from a life-threatening car crash. He began this season with the 2024 Genesis Invitational but withdrew in the second round due to flu-like symptoms.

Woods then traveled to Augusta National for the 2024 Masters, where he made the cut and finished 60th in the event. The 15-time Major champion then competed in The PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open Championship, missing the cut in all three.

Woods is not one hundred percent fit and painless, so he has struggled to compete and be in the top half of the leaderboard. Despite that, we saw glimpses of the vintage Woods occasionally on a few holes.

Tiger Woods will now compete in the 2024 Hero World Challenge in December in the Bahamas. Until then, he will try his best to recover and compete with full fitness.
